Its a commonly joked about issue that photographer’s kids have what is known as ‘PCS’ or Photographer Child’s Syndrome. This very serious syndrome basically makes any photographer’s child immune to the tricks of getting genuine laughs and smiles that we photographers use for other kids, and instead typically results in meltdowns, tantrums and tears. Sometimes the photographer’s child cries too. For the first year of Heath’s life I didnt really have this problem, probably because he hadnt caught on yet to what I was doing behind the camera. At this point though – oh no. I bust out my camera and he goes running for his life. I really wanted to try to get a few family photos of us in before the baby comes – not only to document the maternity aspect of my pregnancy but also to get our family of 3 before it becomes 4. I knew this was asking a lot – of me, of the photographer, of heath…mostly of me. 😉 Directing what to do with a camera when I’m not the one using it (when a family member like my awesome mom volunteered to do) is no easy task. She did a great job though and while Heath definitely didnt act the best, there were a few great captures that were able to show me what this time in our lives looks like. I am very happy we have these!
