My daughter (who is now 5 years old!) has been the unsung hero in getting my downtown Frederick studio up and running this year. I am down to almost single digit days before she’ll be starting kindergarten, so this past year (and the years before that) have seen her home with me a ton. I have the absolute best memories of her and I hanging out, running errands, grabbing lunch, and just being together over these past 5 years. Anyone who knows Siena knows she is (usually) very mature and chill, and she goes with the flow wherever I go. She’s made working from home an incredibly easy process, and I am so thankful that her personality allows this for both of us.
When I began setting my studio up, she was usually tagging along for the ride most days. While I never (and would never ever ever ever) bring my kids to an actual family’s session, she does a lot of the behind the scenes work with me. When I created this flower wall, she went with me to the store and helped carry all the flowers out, and then when I made it she was right there helping alongside. She’s been my sidekick and I’ve loved every minute. It was no surprise then when it came time to testing out my light on the flower wall, she was my go-to girl. She asked to lay on it, and I thought that would actually be pretty cute! My tiny, amazing, beautiful muse. She is the answer to everything I ever hoped and dreamed for in a daughter, and while I’m excited and happy she’s beginning her new chapter with Kindergarten, I’ll be fighting back some bittersweet tears as she goes.
