I have been the cover family photographer for Ijamsville Living magazine for a few years now and this publishing is one of the most fun parts of my job. These families are all local to me, so we always seem to know each other through 6 degrees of separation. We usually discover that either our kids play in the same sports leagues, our houses are in the same neighborhood, or that neither of us have a green thumb. This family in particular lives on a street that I have photographed dozens of families, and I think there must not be a more fun street in the entire world. The tricky behind the scenes secret to these sessions in publishing is that they have to be photographed several months before the magazine is released. This complicates things occasionally (try making a session photographed in February look like a session in April!) but mostly in regards to outfits. I often find people are wearing skirts and tshirts when the weather would more likely call for sweaters and coats – or vice versa. This crew figured out the outfit connundrum perfectly though and created a December color scheme even though it was October. Their photos turned out gorgeous and it never tires seeing my work in print. That is always so much fun to see what images the magazine chooses to display. I have loved getting to know this beautiful family and am excited to share their sneak peeks with you all! Enjoy!
