I was so excited when one of my favorite families to photograph in Frederick contacted me to set up Spring family photos for their extended group of relatives. We originally planned on doing a cherry blossom session but unfortunately the blossom season was filled with frigid temps and cold rain and wind. This family had a brand new baby who I photographed as a newborn only a few months before, so I knew trying to hold a session outdoors during early spring could be tricky. As the weather remained cold this Spring we decided instead to move our session to May and pick up the sunny warmer weather we’d hope to find there. Ironically May too became very cool and rainy, but we happened to luck out with absolutely GORGEOUS weather on our planned date, and ended up having the most beautiful sunshine and warmth for their extended family session after all. We met up at the lovely Distillery Lane Ciderworks apple orchard, which was the perfect place to photograph these amazing grandparents, sons, and their beautiful families together. I have been photographing big sister M since she was a baby, so it was so fun to see her so happy with her grandparents and parents and cousin(and sister!) The kids ran up and down the apple tree rows, pointing out bees and flower blossoms and even stopping to pet a farm doggy or two. They let the sunshine stream across their hair and laid little picnics out on handmade quilted blankets. Sometimes extended family sessions can be a bit overwhelming with the amount of people to organize, but this crew was authentically full of joy and happiness together so it made it fun! Photographing their lovely family was truly wonderful. Enjoy these sneak peeks of these awesome families!
