I have loved photographing this beautiful family every Autumn for the past 5 years or so now. Each time somehow they up the wow factor and bring their A game. This year we decided to choose a Northern Virginia reservoir which gave us a mix of gorgeous rustic grasses, some cool boulders, a beautiful backlit tree line, and a stunning lake. They always wear the perfect outfits – coordinated but not too matchy, and they are all so beautiful. Their kids are so sweet and love having their photos taken, and I love getting to do it!
I was laughing because I got there early to scout out the new spot, and a park ranger pulled up and we had a bit of a stare down. I had checked to make sure photographers were allowed there (as that is a huge concern around here – have to make sure to get permits when required!) and it appeared to me that we could photograph without one in this case. The ranger had his arms crossed as I walked up to him to see what was going on, and I was nervous he was going to give us the boot. When I got up to him he just smiled and said he loves photography and wanted to see what we were doing, that we were free to proceed and just not to start partying there. Ha! So crisis averted we began our session and chased the light right into the golden last drops of sun. This mama here is a photographer herself and she had a bunch of great ideas for locations and backdrops – the boulder at the end in the water was her idea and it was my favorite of the day!
