There is a point in the middle of winter, when all the grasses have dried in the fields and all the leaves have fallen from the trees, and it is truly winter outside. For my business this is the time of hibernation from outdoor family sessions typically as well, with the majority of my sessions being held in months of warmth and color. There is something magical though about this time of year, when the color resides in the rosy cheeks, the layered clothing, and the hints of color that winter allows. This winter field photo session was the perfect backdrop for my session with this awesome family. I love the tan grasses and the pale winter sky that only arrives this time of year.
I have photographed my beautiful sister and her amazing family over the years as they’ve grown together, and each time is so special for me as a photographer (and a sister and an aunt). This time we were outside only for about 10 minutes as the weather in the winter field was too cold for my baby nephew to tolerate too long, but that’s all we needed to capture this winter in their lives. They live in Florida so getting to experience the cold is a right of passage I think is great they get to do together. We captured some adorable images and I especially loved the ones I got of my beautiful niece. Turning 11 this year, she is on the cusp of being a teenager but still also a kid, which can be an tricky phase of life to photograph. She rocked her images and flashed her beautiful bright smile perfectly. Enjoy these sneak peeks of this beautiful and amazing family.
