This beautiful field full of purple wildflowers for this family session was amazing on so many levels. I first met this family when big sister here was just a newborn and one of my baby planners. I watched her grow, learn to crawl and then walk, and have been honored to witness their family grow with a second beautiful daughter in front of my camera.
This last year brought intense joy and excitement as they became pregnant with a new baby. Weeks of hospital bedrest though, were sadly not enough to save their baby boy – a brother for these two amazing sisters – and they tragically lost their precious son Nathan.
Through grief and pain these four have moved with Nathan in their hearts, and minds, and have found his sign that he’s with them always – in the form of a butterfly. It is believed that a butterfly is a symbol of transformation, joy, change and color – something that Nathan truly brought into the world with his life and his family’s love for him.
As if by divine chance – the days before our session (previously scheduled only at one of my favorite properties) I realized that a field of my favorite wildflowers which has always bloomed in August, somehow miraculously had bloomed over a month late….just so timed with this amazing family’s session. I didnt realize until we arrived, that these particular flowers happen to be a monarch and butterfly habitat. Butteflies fluttered all around us, reminding us that Nathan was with them always.
This amazing family with the purple wildflowers and their love and happiness towards each other made for the most amazing images and moments. They are just breathtakingly beautiful!
