I give all families an option to do a studio flow newborn session with carefully constructed poses, props, backdrops and lots of meticulously crafted details – or an in home lifestyle new baby photo session. These in home lifestyle sessions have minimal props, and we instead incorporate the home and nursery and unique special personal touches in their home to mix candid imagery and natural baby led posing to create a gorgeous newborn lifestyle photo session. These sessions are typically shorter than studio sessions because we just go with the baby’s flow, and being awake or asleep is less important for the images. These can particularly be nice when involving an older sibling, since they’re in the comfort of their own home and can be surrounded by their room and toys and their own life.
I photographed big brother here when he was a newborn baby just over a year ago, so it was extra special to come back for his baby brother’s newborn portraits as well. Their beautiful Washington DC home let in lots of natural sunlight, and mom’s pink skirt and pale pink sweater were one of my all time favorite new mom outfits I’ve ever seen! She looked stunning in it and it was such a fun addition to the session. I brought along a cream rug for some images as well as some minimal props for some simple relaxed poses, and the rest we utilized their rooms in their home! We kept the colors neutral and sweet baby M looked amazing in everything.
This sweet family had me smiling the whole time and their happiness and relaxed joy was infectious. I loved seeing them again and being a part of this precious time in their lives as a family of 4 together. Enjoy these beautiful newborn images!
