Hands down Hawaii is one of my favorite places to visit in the whole world. One of the greatest joys my photography has given me is the ability to travel around the world and photograph other families as well as my own kids in the most beautiful places in the world. The islands of Hawaii and especially Kauai are full of natural beauty in a way you can’t find elsewhere in the world. The backdrop of the Pacific ocean, set against sunrises and sunsets straight out of a dream, makes for the most beautiful location for a photosession. This beach at the Kauai Princeville Resort is straight out of a dream, filled with rainbows and peace and beauty. My kids loved being my models this morning as they played on the black volcanic rocks, ran through the ocean surf, and watched sand crabs scamper around. I know I’m lucky that they humor me for photo sessions still, as many kids at their ages want nothing to do with photography. These two love having their photos taken though and were awesome for this morning sunrise session.
This is my third time visiting the beautiful island of Hawaii, and each time it has me fall in love with it more and more. The flight is pretty brutal from the Washington DC area, but once you arrive and feel the ocean air you leave all of that behind you. The one good thing about the long flight and the jet lag is that sunrises there are super easy to wake up for, so I made the most of it one day by photographing my own kids! I love being able to take my love for photography around the world and offer travel photo sessions to families as they go on vacation, or move to new places.
